Just in time for Thanksgiving, our whole grain pie class will give the skills necessary to bake a nutritious pie crust using local wheat.
In this class, we will:
Stone mill Soft White Winter Wheat (locally grown by Adirondack Hay & Organic Grains)
Then we’ll craft some flaky pie crusts in order to make
– A sweet or savory Rustic Galette
– An Apple Pie
– And a North Country Quiche
– Plus everyone will receive 5 lbs of freshly-milled flour to take home
$75 per person with all of the proceeds going towards our barn renovations fund.
It’s kind of spring so that means Snowy Grocery will now occur every Sunday from 10-1 at Sugar House Creamery. We are planning for vendors to be set up outside to allow for ample space and fresh air and all who are able will be asked to park on 9N and walk up the driveway – please dress accordingly.
Products and vendors include cheese and milk from Sugar House Creamery plus full availability from the SHC farm store, pork, lamb, beef, and chicken from Mace Chasm Farm, an increasing selection of vegetables from Wild Work Farm, and baked goods from Mona Dubay.
In an attempt to ensure the health of customers, vendors, and our community at large, there will be a couple of changes to Snowy Grocery as we know it:
1) While usually a social affair, we ask that customers approach the market with efficiency and respect for the NYS guidelines on congregation. Please help us limit the number of bodies at this market by sending just one person from your household when possible.
2) Furthermore, we ask that all suggested social distancing protocols be followed. Primarily, keep six feet between you and anyone else… walking, talking, standing in line. Individual vendors will be following industry specific safety guidelines.
IF YOU ARE SICK OR SELF-QUARANTINING BECAUSE OF POSSIBLE EXPOSURE DO NOT COME TO SNOWY GROCERY! Try to find someone who can shop for you.

Recently, the Warrensburg Riverfront Farmers’ Market held its Southern Adk Local Food and Craft Beverage Festival. Adirondack Harvest board member and Southern Region chapter representative Teresa Whalen manages the vibrant market and its events with a heavy emphasis on local. This festival was captured in an article written by Paul Post for “Lancaster Farming” and “The Lake George Mirror” and featured another Adirondack Harvest farmer and board member, Bob Barody of Blackberry Hill Farm and Sanctuary.
