2022 Adirondack Harvest Festival a Success
The Cornell Cooperative Extension of Essex County Adirondack Harvest team would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who made the 2022 Adirondack Harvest Festival a success. We had a record number of attendees, approximately 3,500 people attended from near and far. We had folks visit from Vermont, Canada, New York City and beyond. It was a beautiful day to celebrate our farmers and agriculture in the region.
We would like to extend a special thanks to our volunteers, vendors, performers, partners, team members and sponsors who made this year’s event possible.

Country Dreams Farm of Plattsburgh offered free horse drawn wagon rides all day An estimated 3,500 people visited the Festival this year Amy and Pete Nelson performed on stilts throughout the Festival The “Young Farmers’ Circle” kids area was bustling with activities all day Thank you Assemblymember Billy Jones for joining us at the Festival Grims Garlic of Chazy sold seed and culinary garlic and gourds Demonstration of turning flax into linen fiber Alex Caskey of Barred Owl Brook Farm offered a workshop on propagating plants for silvopasture systems The event was held at the Essex County Fairgrounds in Westport NY. You can see Lake Champlain and the Green Mountains of Vermont in the distance. The straw bale toss contest was a hit with kids and adults Red Oak Food Company sold mushrooms, inoculated mushroom logs, sourdough breads, and many other delicious products. Adam Wild offered a shiitake mushroom growing workshop Display by Whallonsburg Grange Hall Crown Point Bakery sold baked goods all day Hex and Hop Brewery, Oval Craft Brewery and Four Maples Vineyard sold their beer and wine in the Local Libations Tent Plougman’s Lunch on the bandstand The hula hoop contest was a hit with kids John Brown Lives! offered a talk on the history of Timbuctoo Jane Desotelle of Underwood Herbs presented on wild woodland plants The Hub on the Hill barn was popular, with Farmers Cone Creamery selling scoops of ice cream made with local milk and fruit
