SUMMARY:Bike the Barns
DESCRIPTION:Bike the Barns is a fully supported recreational road cycling tour supporting the rich agricultural movement of the North Country. This one-day farm-by-bike experience will feature farm tour stops staged along the route where you can personally connect with the local food revolution. The agritourism experience culminates with a finish line local food celebration complete with a meal\, beverages and live music. All proceeds will be used to support local farms and a portion of every rider’s event fee will go directly into the FarmShare fund. \n\n\n\nThere’s a ride for everyone! At the day’s end\, join participating farms\, riders and their families and members of the community for a celebration of local agriculture and food\, craft beverages and music. Register by September 15th to secure a t-shirt. Registration will increase $20 on September 1st. \nBike the Barns is a casual bicycle tour that highlights and celebrates the agricultural diversity and locally-produced products of the North Country. Bicyclists will enjoy a riding route that celebrates the natural beauty of the region and takes them to the small towns and villages that are supported by the area’s farms and families.

DESCRIPTION:Join the Adirondack Farm to School Initiative for a benefit dinner with the theme\, “Celebrating our Farmers.” We will be gathering at Tucker Farms in Gabriels\, NY for a very special dinner on a long table in the Corn Maze Barn! Guest speakers will include area farmers and Assemblyman Billy Jones. Hayrides and the corn maze will be open for your enjoyment. Tickets are $65 each and benefit the Adirondack Farm to School Initiative. \nThe Adirondack Farm to School Initiative works with schools and communities to rebuild a healthy food system in the Adirondacks. Our goal is to enrich children’s bodies and minds while supporting local economies\, bringing local food into school cafeterias and creating hands-on learning activities through school gardens\, farm visits\, and integration of food related education into the regular classroom curriculum. \nWe believe that through growing\, harvesting\, and preparing nutritious foods\, children gain confidence\, develop critical thinking skills\, feel a sense of power over their own health\, and can impact family purchasing\, cooking\, and eating patterns.
