DESCRIPTION:Let’s gather in the garden at DaCy Meadow Farm to get a taste of the season!\nWhat it is: A farm and garden tour\, garden-grown snacks (and BYOB drinks)\, and an optional hands-on activity. Contribute what you can\, $15 suggested donation. Family-friendly! Join Mary and your fellow neighbors for a Sunday evening on the farm. Together we will tour the farm\, see some of the animals\, and walk through the veggie gardens to get a taste of what is in season. As we tour\, you will be encouraged to pick\, smell\, taste\, explore and ask questions about the many heirloom varieties of veggies\, fruit\, herbs\, and edible flowers growing in the gardens. Guests will be served a spread of local food snacks and you can enjoy the evening on the farm. You’re welcome to bring your own bottle of wine or beer.\n\nFor those inclined\, we will have a cupcake decorating station set up for you. Where guests are welcome to pick edible flowers\, herbs\, and wild plants to decorate with. We are happy to accommodate most dietary or accessibility needs\, just give us a heads up ahead of time. Guests will be expected to follow NYS COVID-19 recommendations. SUMMARY:Brewing Kombucha with Seasonal Flavors
DESCRIPTION:Summer’s heat pairs perfectly with a cold beverage. Now is a great time to learn how to brew a popular\, unique fermented drink at home! Kombucha is produced by fermenting sweet tea with a culture of yeast and bacteria. It can be found in grocery stores\, but produced more economically on a home scale. The session will include tips on how to use locally available ingredients including honey\, maple syrup\, berries and herbs.\nInstructor Alexandra Brown is the caretaker of River Road Farm and a passionate home-fermenter. She delights in brewing\, drinking and sharing kombucha\, especially when creating unique combinations with seasonally available goodies. The facilitator for this session is Flip Filippi\, Extension’s Local Food Program Leader in St. Lawrence County. The classes are part of Celebrating Local Food: A Culinary Series led by Cornell Cooperative Extension of St. Lawrence County.\nThe workshop is available on a sliding scale\, $0-30 so that participants pay what they can afford. The class will be filmed live and all questions are welcome. Pre-registration is required. Once registered\, all participants will be sent the hyperlink to join online. All registrants will receive the class recording along with a resource sheet to encourage future kitchen adventures.
